Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited was established in 1932 to provide Grenadian working-class families with a banking institution –an amenity not previously afforded to them. The bank's starting balance for accounts was a mere penny which differentiated it from the other banks and gave it the long-standing name “The Penny Bank” with the well-established motto “Thrift and Industry”.

The idea was simply to teach children to save by giving them a penny to start an account that they could then watch grow.

Now fondly referred to as “Co-op Bank”, we have grown and developed with the Grenadian people, leading the way on many remarkable accomplishments for the country. We continue to embed ourselves as a pillar in local communities and the Grenadian Diaspora.
